Course Description:
The Master of Business (International Business) provides a unique opportunity for students to gain specialised knowledge through coursework or a combination of coursework and research to apply their learning in both simulated and real work international business environments. The Master of Business (International Business) forms the final stage in a three-stage nested suite of programs consisting of: Graduate Certificate of Business (International Business) Graduate Diploma of Business (International Business) Master of Business (International Business)
Aims & Objectives:
At the completion of the course, graduates can expect to: have developed a strategic approach and further honed analytical skills to effect change in an international business environment be equipped to make a suitable contribution to the theory of international business or application in an international business environment
Course Structure:
Students will normally enrol for two units of study per semester. Each unit of study is of 12 weeks duration with a minumum three hours of class contact time each week or equivalent. In addition to formal class time, students are expected to spend a minimum of the equivalent class contact hours per week in private study, assessment preparation and team project work where applicable.

Stage 1 - Graduate Certificate HBI450 Introduction to International Business HBI451 International Trade and Finance HBL450 International Commercial Law HBM470 International Marketing and Research Stage 2 - Graduate Diploma All students MUST complete: HBH522 Managing People across Cultures HBI551 Australian Trade and Investment with the World HBI552 Business in Asia, the Americas and Europe And one unit of study from the following list: HAM411 Globalisation: Media and Telecommunications HBI550 Trends in International Business HBI560 Asia - Business Context HBI561 European Union - Business Context HBI562 International Business in the Italian Context HBI563 Ethical Issues in International Business HBI565 International Investment and Taxation HBM528 Entrepreneurship & Innovation in Marketing Stage 3 - Master Option 1 - Coursework HBI550 Trends in International Business HBI650 Global Business Strategy HBI651 International Case Studies One elective chosen from other units of study in the program (refer to Stage 2) Or Option 2 - Coursework and research HBI650 Global Business Strategy HBM620 Research Methodology HBI660 Dissertation / Action Research Project (25 credit points)
Entry Requirements:
Applicants who have successfully completed the Graduate Diploma of Business (International Business) with a credit average or better may progress to the master stage.
Course Fees:
In 2009, tuition fees for this program are based on $1900 per 12.5 credit point unit of study. In the event that a unit of study is derived from another program, the applicable fee will be that of the other program. All fees are reviewed each year and may increase without notice. The Higher Education Loan Program (HELP) is a suite of income-contingent loans for Australian citizens and holders of Australian permanent humanitarian visas. FEE-HELP (previously PELS) is available to eligible fee-paying undergraduate and postgraduate students. It provides students with a loan to cover their tuition fees (lifetime maximum $83,313 from 1 January 2009). The FEE-HELP limit is indexed on 1 January each year. Note: New Zealand citizens and holders of other Australian permanent resident visas do not have access to HELP loans. These students must pay their student contributions or tuition fees up front without a discount.
