The Graduate Certificate of Business (International Business) develops the technical, practical, analytical and creative skills to support a successful career in international business. It provides an entry level into tertiary study and the ability to obtain a tertiary qualification for appropriately qualified candidates. The graduate certificate forms the first stage in a three stage nested suite of programs leading to Stage 2: Graduate Diploma of Business (International Business), and Stage 3: Master of Business (International Business)

At the completion of the course, graduates can expect to:
  • have developed the basic technical and practical skills necessary to support a successful career in international business
  • be equipped with suitable skills to continue further postgraduate study in international business

Part-time students will normally enrol for two units of study per semester, with full-time students enrolling in four units of study per semester. Each unit of study is of 12 weeks duration with a minimum 3 hours of class contact time each week for part-time students, or the equivalent for full-time students. In addition to formal class time, students are expected to spend a minimum of the equivalent class contact hours per week in private study, assessment preparation and team project work where applicable. Students holding an international student visa are required to study full-time.

Applicants should normally hold an Australian undergraduate degree in any discipline other than international business from a recognised university or equivalent institution followed by at least three years relevant work experience. Places will also be available to applicants without a degree but who have at least five years relevant work experience at an appropriate level of responsibility.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is a process where a student may be granted credit or partial credit towards a qualification in recognition of skills and knowledge gained through work experience, life experience and/or formal training.

In 2009, tuition fees for this program are based on $1900 per 12.5 credit point unit of study. In the event that a unit of study is derived from another program, the applicable fee will be that of the other program. All fees are reviewed each year and may increase without notice.

The Higher Education Loan Program (HELP) is a suite of income contingent loans for Australian citizens and holders of Australian permanent resident humanitarian visas. FEE-HELP (previously PELS) is for eligible fee paying undergraduate and postgraduate students. It provides students with a loan to cover their tuition fees (lifetime maximum $80,000 indexed annually).

Note: New Zealand citizens and holders of other Australian permanent resident visas do not have access to HELP loans. These students must pay their student contributions or tuition fees up front without a discount.
