This course structure replaces the Master of Commerce (Human Resource Management) (Honours) at Hawthorn from 2011. The Master of Commerce (Integrated Human Resource Management) seeks to provide for the ongoing development of HR practitioners in the areas of organisation behaviour, business strategy and entrepreneurial thinking. Given the current context in which business enterprises operate, all need strategically astute, outcome-focused, innovative and entrepreneurial HR practitioners who can demonstrate business acumen. The Master of Commerce (Integrated Human Resource Management) forms the final stage in a four-stage nested suite of programs consisting of: Graduate Certificate of Commerce (Human Resource Management)Graduate Diploma of Commerce (Human Resource Management)Master of Commerce (Human Resource Management)Master of Commerce (Human Resource Management) (Integrated Human Resource Management) (CMHR640I) The Master of Commerce (IHuman Resource Management) (Integrated Human Resource Management) provides a unique opportunity for students to gain further current, specialised HRM and business knowledge.

As a nested program, applicants may enter at Stage 1 (graduate certificate) and progress through to Stage 2 (graduate diploma) and Stage 3 (master). However, progression from Stage 2 to 3 will be dependent on the achievement of a credit average or better across both Stages 1 and 2 of the program. After successful completion of the Stage 3 (Master), students may progress to the Master of Commerce (Integrated Human Resource Management) ( CMHR640I).Full-time students take four units of study per semester. Part-time students normally undertake two units of study per semester. Students holding an international student visa are required to study full-time.

This course provides an avenue for graduates to gain theoretical and practical skills in human resource management and business practices. As many course participants may already be established in a business career, the key vocational outcomes will arise from better job performance and new opportunities opening up for graduates. Graduates can explore career paths such as Human Resource Officer, Human Resource Manager and Human Resource Director.
Upon successful completion of the master program, students may be eligible to apply for full membership of the Australian Human Resources Institute (AHRI).

Applicants at the Master level should comply with one of the following Completion of an approved undergraduate degree at credit level, from recognised tertiary institution equivalent to a three year Australian bachelor degree OR Completion of an approved undergraduate degree with less than a credit average, in addition applicants submit a 500 word statement demonstrating their suitability for the program. OR Completion of the Graduate Certificate of Commerce (Human Resource Management) with a credit average OR Completion of the Graduate Diploma of Commerce (Human Resource Management) with a credit average in the final 50 credit points OR Completion of the Master of Commerce (Human Resource Management) with a credit average in the final 50 credit points Special Non-Graduate Entry A Special entry provision is available for those applicants who do not have an approved undergraduate degree, but have at least a minimum of five years approved work experience.

The indicative course tuition fee is $15,800 for 2010, based on one year full time load (or 1 EFTSL). The total tuition fee is dependent upon the combination of units of study selected by the student. Fees are reviewed each year and may increase. The Higher Education Loan Program (HELP) is a suite of income-contingent loans for Australian citizens and holders of Australian permanent humanitarian visas. FEE-HELP is available to eligible fee-paying undergraduate and postgraduate students. It provides students with a loan to cover their tuition fees (lifetime maximum $85,062 from 1 January 2010). The FEE-HELP limit is indexed on 1 January each year.Note: New Zealand citizens and holders of other Australian permanent resident visas do not have access to HELP loans.
