This course replaces the Graduate Diploma of Business (Human Resource Management). The Graduate Diploma of Commerce (Human Resource Management) forms the second stage in a four-stage nested suite of programs consisting of: Graduate Certificate of Commerce (Human Resource Management)Graduate Diploma of Commerce (Human Resource Management)Master of Commerce (Human Resource Management)Master of Commerce (Human Resource Management) (Integrated Human Resource Management) ( CMHR640I) The graduate certificate is designed to provide entry-level HRM studies for HR practitioners who have not undertaken any formal studies, and managers with an appropriate level of business experience with a view to assisting them to develop their careers in business. It will provide course participants with knowledge competencies and skills in fundamental HRM functions and activities. Students may exit at this point and apply for the graduate certificate. The graduate diploma builds on the knowledge and skills gained in the graduate certificate and develops high-level HR managerial skills. It focuses on the role of HR as part of business strategy.
At the completion of the course, graduates are expected to be able to Communicate effectively in a business environmentWork productively in diverse teamsCritically evaluate business problems and suggest ethical, legal, entrepreneurial, socially responsible and sustainable solutionsProvide HR solutions to a business problem.
As a nested program, applicants may enter the master program at Stage 1 (graduate certificate) and progress through to Stage 2 (graduate diploma) and Stage 3 (master). However, progress from Stage 2 to 3 will be dependent on the achievement of a credit average or better across both Stages 1 and 2 of the program. Full-time students take four units of study per semester and part-time students normally undertake two units of study per semester. International students holding student visas can only be offered the full-time program.

This course provides an avenue for graduates to gain theoretical and practical skills in HRM and business practices. As many participants may already by established in a business career, the key vocational outcomes will arise from improved job prospects and opportunities for further career progression. Graduates can follow career path roles such as Human Resource Officer and Human Resource Manager.

Satisfactory completion of an approved undergraduate degree from a recognised tertiary institution, equivalent to a three-year Australian bachelor degree. Special Non-Graduate Entry A special entry provision is available for those applicants who do not have an approved undergraduate degree, but have at least a minimum of three years approved work experience.
